Mesotrione is a pre-emergence and post-emergence broad-spectrum selective herbicide capable of inhibiting hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), which can effectively control major broadleaf weeds and some grassy weeds.

Mesotrione is easily transmissible in the xylem and phloem of plants and has contact toxicity and special effects. Field efficacy trials have shown that 100 g/l mesotrione suspensions are used for annual broadleaf weeds and some grasses in the corn field. Grasses such as ramie, leeks, peony, alfalfa, barnyardgrass, crabgrass, etc. have good control effect, but they have poor control effect on iron leeks and some grass weeds.
